Normally when we travel, we book flights and reserve hotel rooms to experience a single destination. However, with Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, it is quite different. These 3 little Caribbean islands give vacationers the opportunity to travel to 1 destination to explore 3 different authentic experiences.
For those who like the buzz and excitement of various festivals and the adrenalin rush of unique island adventures, mainland Grenada is definitely the place. The range of accommodation facilities and island activities ensures that there is something for everyone. Various festivals and attractions, culinary delights, dive excursions and other thrilling soft adventure make the spice experience worth repeating.
Those that envision their vacation to be a place where the richest and most distinct traditions come alive should definitely visit the sister island of Carriacou. There are Village Maroons and Tombstone Feasts, Big Drum Dancing and Parang Music. Even the old fashioned Carnival has its own unique twist with the recitations of Shakespeare speeches by men dressed in laced petticoats, brightly colored long sleeved shirts, bull whips and elaborate crowns on their heads. Carriacou is truly the epitome of the destination’s tradition and culture.
Petite Martinique is reserved for those who want nothing but immense relaxation. This little island with a population of under 900 persons is the best location for someone who wants to get away from it all. A quick ferry ride on Osprey Lines from Carriacou takes you to this tiny island. With the exception of a few locals engaged in their daily activities, there is nothing but the sound of the ocean and the gentle touch of the Caribbean breeze to whisper in your ear.
When deciding on your next vacation destination, remember that Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique give you the opportunity to have 3 different experiences on 3 different islands comprising one independent nation.
