In 2016 at the debut of the Pure Grenada Music festival we got serenaded by the soulful sound of Joss Stone. We jammed to popular hits by Estelle, and we were thrown back to the good old days with our all time favourite tunes by roots reggae band Steel Pulse. There were Grenadian street food vendors, admirable sustainable art and a diverse sea of festival goers enjoying an eclectic mix of music from Grenadian artistes to renowned international stars.
It gives us great pleasure to announce that it’s happening all over again from May 5th to 7th 2017, at Port Louis Marina on the Lawn and various locations islandwide.
So what’s different about Pure Grenada Music Festival you ask? Well… the founding members and a dedicated team of organisers known as the Pure Grenada Music Festival Committee work tirelessly to establish a ‘pure approach’ to music, opportunities to develop the musical talent in Grenada and establish ‘green rules’ to offset any potentially negative environmental impact on our magnificent island.
Tarrus Riley, one of the leading ambassadors of modern day Reggae Music in Jamaica is confirmed to perform on Saturday 6th May along with award-winning singer, songwriter and social activist, Queen Ifrica, who will grace us with her conscious lyrics that touch on key social issues. The latest announcement of Third World, one of the top Reggae bands has also got us all excited. Joining these Reggae greats will be a host of talented Grenadian artistes who sure know how to rock a stage. Rest assured that there will be more artistes announced representing the World Music genre.
