Easter Monday
Event Description
Considered to be the oldest feast of the Christian Church, Easter celebrations commemorate the death of Jesus Christ and the birth of the Catholic church. It is the principal feast of the ecclesiastical year and marks the start of the official calendar of the Catholic Church.
Religious services marking Holy Week, start on Holy Thursday, and continue thru Good Friday, and Easter Saturday, climaxing with the commemoration of the ressurection of Christ on Easter Sunday.
Easter Monday is a public holiday, when banks and most shops are closed. In 2010, Easter Monday will be celebrated on April 4.
