Paradise Beach in Carriacou Featured in Toronto Star
January 11, 2012
Readers of the on-line publication of the Toronto Star in Canada – www.thestar.com now know that Paradise Beach in Carriacou is among ‘off the beaten Caribbean beaches’ that they should visit. This encouragement is contained in an article that covers “Sister Islands: Off the Caribbean’s Beaten Path”. It was written by Ontario based freelance travel writer - Mrs. Josephine Matyas, who visited the island last November as a guest of the Grenada Board of Tourism.
In reflecting on her experience at Paradise Beach, she notes the privacy, peacefulness and tranquility of one of Carriacou’s finest beaches by indicating that “This is the Caribbean experience that many winter-weary Canadians crave”. The article further gives information about Carriacou’s tourism product and urges visitors to consider the island as a destination for rest and relaxation.
The Grenada Board of Tourism welcomes this timely publicity for the island. Director of Tourism Simon Stiell remarked that “it showcases one of Carriacou’s major selling points – that of rest and relaxation, and comes at an opportune time when we are looking at creative ways to ensure that the recently introduced scheduled flights from Canada to Grenada are successful”.
Since Canada is a very important source market for Grenada, every effort is being made to host high profile travel writers from that country. Several such writers are scheduled to visit Grenada later this year.
