Message from the Minister of Tourism
All discernable statistical measurements show that Grenada’s cruise tourism sector has continued along a path of growth and expansion. From the upgrading of established tourist attractions to ensuring that concessions are granted to taxi-drivers and tour operators to enable them to purchase comfortable vehicles to conduct their tours and transfers, every effort is being made to deliver a quality experience to visiting cruise ship passengers.

Indeed, today’s mixture of shopping malls has given Grenada added value as a destination that has elevated from unique historic and cultural attributes to one that now includes improved shopping outlets, comfortable hiking trails, more knowledgeable service providers and excellent customer services.

The Government of Grenada remains fully cognizant of the importance of the cruise tourism industry which has proven to be a most convenient way to showcase the destination to persons who would like to return for a longer vacation. This explains why so much emphasis is being placed on ensuring that quality services are tendered by all those who assist visitors in experiencing Grenada. Training and certification of such individuals is critical to this thrust which aims to provide every visitor with experiences that would have lasting positive impressions.

Work continues on the transformation of the St. George’s market facilities and other historic buildings in St. George’s to capture Grenada’s traditional appeal as the “Porto Fino of the Caribbean” and the need to sustain that image. Visitors can therefore look forward to a combination of opportunities and experiences that would leave them yearning to return for a longer appreciation of this “Spice isle of the Caribbean”.

As Minister of Tourism it is my distinct pleasure to assure you of our highest regard for your comfort and safety as we explore creative ways to further diversify the offerings that await you on this unique island.

Hon. Dr. Clarice Modeste Curwen
Minister for Tourism, Culture & Civil Aviation
